Tuberculosis Prevention and Control

Responsible for all tuberculosis prevention and control activities within Island Health.
The Island Tuberculosis Program (Island TB Program) is responsible for all tuberculosis prevention and control activities within Island Health. The TB program provides the following services:
  • Tuberculin Skin Testing
  • Management of latent and active TB cases
  • Tuberculosis outbreak management
  • Chest X-rays for individuals with previous positive tuberculin skin who have active MSP coverage
  • Antibiotic therapy for tuberculosis infection and disease
  • Immigration surveillance screening. ** May be costs associated with screening**


For South Island patients call the Victoria TB clinic. For all other Island patients call your nearest health unit. See Island Health website for more information.
